Fresh Coriander

Coriander is a leafy herb with green leaves with the occasional chestnut-maroon coloured streak about mid-leaf. The stems of Coriander are slim, light green or red in colour and they have a similar structure to cilantro. The flavour of this perennial herb is similar to cilantro with a spicy taste followed by a bit of a lemon zing.

Coriander is an excellent source of vitamins A, C and K, as well as iron and manganese. It also contains antioxidants and chemicals with antibacterial properties. The blossoms may be used alongside the leaves in most recipes or as a substitution for a milder flavour.
