The Legend of Guacamole

How to make your kids eat healthy or incline them towards health foods in their growing years has always been a challenge. And not only kids, it is a tedious task to keep yourself from your favourite plate of drooling Butter Chicken or the last slice of that family size Pepperoni Pizza.

So here is a solution. Let’s indulge into foods having the taste of life with the sustenance of health. One such Superfood that comes first to the mind is the Avocado.

Avocado is a recent discovery which has exploded the world with the overwhelming advantages it has on the human body. Often certified as the fruit with most nutrition content, Avocado provides Vitamins A, D, K & E, high levels of protein and fibre. Consuming this fruit can help preventing development of cancer cells as they cater anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant flavonoids. Also, it helps reducing the levels of triglyceride and cholesterol in your body which makes it ideal for a healthy heart.

Humans in their truest sense love being creative and this lead to birth of ‘the legend of Guacamole’. Guac, as millenials call it, is the most preferred dip when it comes to the modern breakfast. Topped on toasts, or inside sandwiches, Gauc is the go-to-dip when it comes to anything and everything.

Here is how to make the perfect Guacamole!

 Ingredients:

1. Avocados: The riper, the better. Refer here to choose the ideal Avocado.

2. Olive Oil: Drizzle it with Olive Oil, if you want to give it smoothness and deep flavour.

3. Diced Onion: Flavour of Onions are truly loved in the perfect Guac, but if you would like to make it a bit milder, just rinse and drain the chopped onion in water briefly before adding it to the Avocados.

4. Coriander:  14% of the population does not like fresh coriander, so you can skip it. But it adds a hint of freshness in the already delicious guac.

5. Fresh Jalapeño: Adds some spice to it. I like to remove the seeds before mincing and adding to the bowl.

6. Lime Juice: Freshly squeezed is always the best, adds a ting of tanginess.

7. Himalayan Salt: A critical ingredient to bring out all those good flavours together. Always season properly.

8. Cumin Powder: I have always added a dash to my guacamole, and I am convinced that it is the secret ingredient that rounds out all those flavours and makes people love it so much.

9. Diced Tomatoes: Add finely chopped tomatoes to give a different texture to the guac and its umami flavour really sums up the guac.

  

Recipe:

I) Start with mashing two scooped Avocados in a medium-sized bowl with a fork until they reach your desired consistency.

II) Add in diced Onions, Tomatoes, Fresh Jalapeno, coriander, lime juice, olive oil and sprinkle it with sea salt and cumin powder accordingly.

III) Stir until combined properly.

IV) Serve it up with nachos and enjoy!!!
